I am sure it has happened to all of you at some point.

I am guilty for it as well..

It's one of these traits that us women tend to have more than men and somehow I know you will all relate..

I happened to be at a shop today and bumped into a young girl I know (a good acquaintance) who looked really beautiful..

I said to her and genuinely meant every word: "You look lovely today sweet girl!" Only to receive a little smile and the following answer: "Me? Oh no, I didn't sleep well last night and I must look so tired and I have no make up on Theodora".

Come on! Before you make a judgement. Tell me that you have NEVER, EVER said that to someone who has just paid you a compliment. I remember my first boss in Australia telling me that one of my weaknesses was that I didn't know how to take a compliment for my work. When I did well and she praised me for my work, I didn't take the compliment. There was always another "force" driving the success. Sometimes it was the the timing, that was right, others there was a bit of luck involved or a colleague helping but never did I own the good results as my personal success...

I don't know why US women do this.. But then again does the WHY really matter anyway?

What matters is that we are here and alive.. Every day is a blessing, a day that will never come back and a simple compliment by another person should be honored and celebrated. After all, they took time out of their day to let you know that you have done something well. And that's very kind!

"So what do I say Theodora, she asked". I gave her the advice I got 12 years ago when my confidence was laying a little low (being in a different country, speaking a different language and having no friends initially) from my boss.

"You don't need to do much, just smile and say thank you", I said.

Simple as that! Honor the person that paid you the compliment and maybe make a point to empower another person with a compliment a little later in the day...

People always remember how you make them feel. Spread the positive energy. The world has enough haters. But we are NOT.

Go out there..smile and make another human being feel special. Be soft. Don't let the world make you hard.

Kindness has a beautiful way of reaching down ino a weary heart and making it shine like the rising sun! And to quote Cinderella "have courage and be kind"... The rest will come.

It sure feels amazing

Trust me ...
